
Jessica Michelle Chastain was born on March 24 1977. She is an American producer, actress and model. Most famous for her roles in films that have feminist themes, she has been awarded numerous awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in 2012. Chastain was a keen actor from an early age. She made her professional stage debut in the role of Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. After her studies in acting at Juilliard School, she was given a talent deal with John Wells. She was a frequent guest star on numerous television shows and played several roles in stage productions. Chastain made her film debut with Jolene (2008) at the age of 31. She then went on to make six films in 2011 which included The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). For her roles as an aspiring socialite and a CIA analyst, she was awarded Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were commercially more successful. Her strong-willed portrayals in dramas The Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were further praised. She was later cast as Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain is the founder of the production firm Freckle Films, which was designed to increase the inclusion of diverse film makers. She is an investor in the soccer club Angel City FC. She is vocal about mental illness, gender equality and racial equity. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo is her husband.
