April Ross
April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball players who have won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman, playing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. Perhaps she has one chance, at 39 years old. Her optimism is that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross was quoted on NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. In addition, I'll try the chance to have luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. Apart from participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. But she stood out at this level. According to her bio, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. In recognition of her work she was named an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross is playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017, but Ross's beach game was established well before the year. She's won big events twice, with various partners. The other has become an iconic player in the volleyball world. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Along with Kessy Ross was awarded the World Championship in 2009, while racing internationally. They went through to take home a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor took home gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she had retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college player with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She was a player in high school, as well as years prior to hitting the beaches as a professional. Ross's Trojans experience was impressive. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. She was also a key player for helping the Trojans to make it to their way to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to make it back as an All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans, she helped them achieve consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, she was named the best female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the United States according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the chance to watch her daughter grow into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001, when Ross was in the midst of being a USC sophomore. Her breast cancer had been diagnosed. She has kept her mother in her the heart.
